Calling all Teens

St. Fabian’s has a new teen

|
All teen’s from 8th grade through
12th grade are invited to join in the fun!
We want to provide you with an
opportunity to continue to learn about your Catholic faith and heritage,
as well as providing creative ways to serve our church and the community.
We also want to have lots of fun, with plans for outings to water parks,
Six Flags, and concert events.
We meet every other Sunday at 6pm
in O’Meara Hall (Rooms 9 & 10). Contact the Parish Office for more
information.
Check Us Out!! You’ll be glad you
did! |

An Invitation

|
If you
have no Church family to call your
own, we warmly invite
"You" to visit
our parish community.
The
Catholic parish tries to be a
community of Christ-like
people helping
one another spiritually
and socially, in
times of joy and in times
of sorrow.
If you
would like to know more about the
Catholic Faith, or if we
can serve you in
any way, please call us at
708-599-1110 or drop by
the rectory.
We look
forward to welcoming "You" . |

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

|
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul depends on your
donations to keep our Food Pantry stocked throughout the year. We ask you continue to share your abundance with
those who are less fortunate.
As we try to balance out the items on the pantry
shelves, we are desperately in need of: tuna, canned potatoes and
vegetables, canned fruit, pork & beans, and canned soups.
There are two food donation containers: one in the
Narthex and one at the Religious Education School entrance. Thank you for
your generous support in the past and please keep our ministry in your
prayers. |

St. Fabian’s Adoration Chapel

|
Come visit Jesus in the Chapel
each and every Monday from: 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m.
Benediction will be at 7:45
p.m.

“When we go before the Blessed
Sacrament, let us open our hearts; our good God will open His. We shall go
to Him; He will come to us; the one to ask, the other to receive. It will
be like a breath from one to the other.”
- St. John Vianney |

Blessing of Expectant Mothers

|
On the first Sunday of each month, St. Fabian Parish
offers a blessing for expectant mothers, fathers and their unborn
children, immediately following the 9:30 a.m.
Mass.
We’ll meet in the Chapel— The
blessing is given to strengthen mothers and fathers during the time of
waiting and to pray for the health and safe delivery of their child. This
blessing may be received monthly throughout the pregnancy.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

|
“ Children’s
Liturgy of the Word”
will be held in Room 3 each Sunday during the 9:30 Mass. Children’s
Liturgy of the Word or “CLoW” uses special adaptations of the Sunday
Gospel and other Scripture readings which are easier and shorter than the
regular “adult” lectionary readings. This Children’s Lectionary is
approved by our Catholic bishops for use at Masses with children.
Here’s how a Children’s Liturgy
of the Word works: The children start Mass the same way as we do now – in
Church with their parents. After the Gathering Rites and Opening Prayer,
when everyone sits down for the first reading, the children are invited by
the priest to come forward. With a blessing, they and their specially
trained leaders are sent out to Room 3. There they listen to the Word of
God from the Children’s lectionary, sing songs of praise and hear a
child-centered homily. The children are then invited to pray their own
“Prayers of the Faithful” and finally they return to their parents in
Church for the second part of Mass, the Liturgy of the Eucharist. One of
the benefits of the Children’s Liturgy is that parents get to focus more
on listening to the Scriptures themselves, instead of being distracted by
squirming children. The extra movement, usually makes it easier for the
children to stay focused on the Eucharist when they return to “the big
Church.”
